Week 2 - (September 6th-9th)
This week at school we;
-began learning about digital citizenship. More specifically, not believing everything you read and hear on the internet. We looked at samples of photoshopping and discussed checking the source of information.
-played some cooperative games in gym (under/over, capture the chicken, and make it back to your spot before the chicken does)
-began our first novel study of the year. I am reading "Pony" by R.J Palacio. Students sketched horses and wrote a prediction about what the story may be about. Shinn was kind enough to teach the class how to fold an origami horse as well as supply the paper for the activity. Thank you Shinn!
-began a whole class guided reading/literature circle. As a class we are reading "Charlottes Web". Students are learning how to; read with fluency, use context clues to make sense of new vocabulary, inference, and predict. This week we focussed on restating the question in a written answer.
-practiced finding patterns in numbers ie. 63, 66, 69, 72. The pattern is increasing by 3s. Finding the value of a number based on a specific criteria. X is 4 more than 84. X = 88
-the grade 4s began French
-At the bottom of the blog I posted a sneak-a-peek preview of the OH Ranch. In preparation of our off-site trip to the OH Mrs.Branco and I were invited to spend the afternoon familiarizing ourselves with the ranch. Fingers crossed the that weather cooperates!
